Chantouch Srinilta, District Sales Manager for Phuket, at Thai Airways International, as they restart direct Tokyo-Phuket flights on 17 July; TG671 departs 10:00, arrives 15:25 on a Boeing 777; Capacity is 309 passengers; it restarts twice a week Thursdays & Saturdays; but 1 way only at first, but cuts about 3-4 hours off indirect flights via Bangkok; he first tells us when & why they decided to restart the direct flights: ………
We also talked to Bhuris Maswongsa, Vice President of Phuket Tourist Association & Patong Resort hotel, as the PTA, hotels and TAT requested TG to restart this route since the tsunami December 2004, when Japanese visitors to Phuket were higher (206,381 in 2004; only 44,662 in 2005; 114,882 in 2006; and 115,751 in 2007).
